The matches can be drawn out, they can go on for 3 or 4 episodes and sometimes it can be boring to sit through. Prince of Tennis does have a huge girl fan base, so if you are a girl who loves anime with "eye candy" you will not be disappointed. I didn't mind this because to me this just symbolized how much of a unique person Ryoma was to overcome odds against much more physically developed players and how much more he had to develop as a person. As far as characters go the drawing is good, but there is often complaints about how the characters with a one or two age gap with Ryoma and the other freshmen are so much taller and look much older. There are also a few chibi episodes for fun and other episodes showing character development outside of tennis. The anime follows the matches between Seigaku and other middle schools such as Hyotei and Fudomine, and Seigaku's preparations for the matches. He moved from America to Japan and attends Seishun Academy Middle School or Seigaku as it is commonly referred to in the anime. He's an amazing tennis player and is considered a prodigy. Brief Synopsis: (May contain spoilers.) Prince of Tennis follows the story of a 12 year old boy Ryoma Echizen who won four consecutive titles in the American Junior Tennis tournaments. When I first heard her description of Prince of Tennis I was unimpressed, why would I want to watch an anime about tennis? How could that be interesting? A few days later was the start of spring break and because I was bored I decided to see what the fuss was all about. I was introduced to Prince of Tennis by my friend who raved over it and stayed up to 4 a.m.

I will however go out of my way to watch/read these if I find them entertaining enough. I am not a huge fan of anime or manga, I could count the number of animes/mangas I've watched and/or read on one hand. At first, you will think that this is just about with the tournaments, matches and stuffs but actually, there is a twist in the end that is somewhat related to the past of Echizen. The characters each have their own charisma and uniqueness and after a while, you will realize that you're already attached to this GREAT anime. Don't get me wrong, I DON'T play tennis but I loved the show so if you're a tennis-lover then you'll love it even more! Even the matches are interesting. After one year, I still can't get over it and watched it again. I watched all the OVAs, live action movies and the animated movies. I was really addicted to the anime to the point that I watched all of it's replays in TV. After that, I watched it 5 days straight and repeated it again until I realized I've already watched it 4 times CONSECUTIVELY. I was really interested and asked if I can borrow her DVD so she let me. I can't believe I handled it for a year but there was one time that we were on our trip to our home, we were really bored and I finally asked her to tell me some of the best moments in PoT and that's what she did. One of my friends is SO addicted to "The Prince of Tennis" or PoT and every time we chat with each other, she always tell me how good it is though she never told me what it is about because I'm really uninterested. I'm not really addicted to anime at first. Tennis being an individual sport looks like a very intense battle in anime version. The animation is outdated but it used to look cool back then.

I feel they do get their dues and almost each of them are developed pretty well.

There is one strict leader(Tezuka), a cool genius, a megane guy with some weird habits, a tragic guy facing some quite a situation, a short tempered guy, the characters who are the golden pair when it comes to doubles. Ryoma flying back to foreign land to continue with his sports journey. The anime ends in a same way as other sports anime. I would like to assume that Tezuka was shown as an obstacle, something that he wishes to overcome. Nevertheless, it doesn't mean that he is a complete 'hero.' There are also those(probably Fuji Shusuke and Tezuka Kunimitsu), who get better of him. The way he handles the challenging situations is extremely adult-like. A 14-year-old prodigy, playing with the Highschoolers, he was quite mature for someone of his age. However, I have to admit that Ryoma was a different type of a main character. Throughout the anime, we get to watch his experiences while playing for his School team Seigaku. Quite predictably, the main character, Ryoma Echizen is a transfer from America. I took time to realise that all the sports anime are more or less the same. There used to be a time when I was so much into the sports anime.
